i have a 1996 Punto 1600 engine, manual gearbox
i am only going to use it offroad,
and its not street legal anyway.
i am going to take it apart,
and leave nothing but the chassis and the steering wheel.
what would be the simplest and cheapest way to mount the engine in the back and make it a RWD?

Puntos are wierd -- you might look at taking the front subframe out of another car, together with suspension, strut towers, steering rack, etc and welding that in the back. Replace the rack with a solid bar (in the back!). Gearchange will be the hardest part.

Not sure that it's really worth the effort, but could be interesting.
