Smile Mk1 Fiat Punto - general selling

Hi

I've had my mk1 Fiat Punto since 1 year old, so basically 1 owner (me!) (when it was ex co car), it's R-reg, and cherry red, 5 door, 1.2 engine, mileage 95k.

The car is too good to scrap really, with a new exhaust and new timing belt too (a few months ago).

Any general advice? Either I keep the car and run two, or what type of cost could I get for selling it? It's in good condition, and a nice runner, and very low insurance group, so probably best as a new car for a young driver.

There don't seem to be many of these mk1 cars on the market that are in good condition, the interior is like new!

Thanks.

Just because a car is old, doesn't mean it should be scrapped.

If the condition is as you say, you will get more money selling it than it's scrap value anyway. Scrap value will be around 120.

It's not a sought after model but would still be a good run around or first car for someone. Stick an MOT on it and you'll likely get at 500 for it.

I'd say -- depending on mileage -- closer to 600.

They do hold their value if looked after

Relative just sold an "S" reg Punto Team 1.2 still looking smart after 80K miles for 650. Buyer was a young man wanting something simple to keep going and cheap to run as his first car

Yes, that's who it would be perfect for, someone, young guy probably who is looking for their first car, as insurance group is very low. It passed the MOT last week now. It's a great run around car. I really am not sure whether to part with it, as it's been a good runner and looks all good and shiny too.

I think yeah about 650 too. Definitely not scrap value, most I have been quoted was 160, which is too low, as the exhaust alone is new within the last year and 300 with a 3 year warranty alone.

Thanks thats useful to know, and I think it's around that too. It's probably best for a young driver where they are just doing local routes, also because it's costing in with the insurance being very low on this car.
