Hi,

I've just fitted a replacement gearbox to my MK1 Punto, but now having trouble selecting the correct gears. First seems to high and I have trouble pulling away, 3rd seems lower than it is.

The gearstick feels very loose with loads of play.

Now, I had to undo the lever on the actual gearbox as I'd made a mess of removing the rod on the replacement and I think I've upset where the lever should be.

Would appreciate some help from anyone who has any experience of setting up the selection linkages.

Its quite tricky to get the slector wright as I had a problem like this when I did my clutch, no gear was where it was supost to be according to gear stick just had to keep ajusting the linkage untill wright

i believe that is the only way to do it, is all i have ever done. Helps to have a friend to help so one can sit in car while the other makes slight adjustment, then the other can test and so on.

Thanks for the advice guys sounds like it will be a right pain. Just had another look seems like the lever at the gearbox needs to be keyed onto the stud of the fork selector shaft. Trouble is each time I try to do this the shaft drops
