Hello,
I want to add central locking to a 60s.
I've searched fiatforum but most guides are for mk2. I'm not car savvy and so wanted advice on best way forward.
Is there a guide if I get sx or elx parts from scrapyard for fitting central locking.
Or is there an easy fitting universal system from ebay or similar. Cost and ease of fitting are important.

Is using remote locking difficult to install also. I don't know if taking the dashboard off is really an option for me.

Thanks.

Thanks for links. Can you recommend any central locking kits as my 60s doesn't have central locking.

Cheers

It's a 4 door so the Maplin option looks good.

Is it difficult to fit the elx or sx type if I get second hand?

if fitting factory parts you'll need to know if your wiring looms has the relevant wires to make the central locking work, this involves the floor loom and all 4 door looms, and some times the dash loom. if your car doesn't support central locking then you will need to change all these wiring looms or make your own. so easier to just buy a kit with all the bits ready to go.

Hii have this one installed:http://www.hawkcaralarm.com/CarAlarmsRemoteStartCentralLockEngineImmobiliser.aspx and is very good value for money and easy to install (i can provide an adapted diagram for it)

or this one:http://www.hawkcaralarm.com/UniversalUpgradeRemoteKeylessForCentralLock.aspx My friend has this one installed in his clio and is very impressed with it and value for money.

Hi everyone,

Hope this thread ain't dead, I would like to ask a question! :D

Could it be possible for the Hawk Alarm to drain your battery when you have it on?

Thank you :)

any alarm on any car including oem ones will draw current from the battery when armed so if your battery isn't healthy you may have issues. Or if you do too many short journeys without a run out. But the latter applies whether you have an alarm or not.
Mr. blu, we meet again! :p
I guessed the first bit, seeing as the alarm has to be on when you lock the car, otherwise there isn't much point in an alarm
However, I didn't know about the short journey bit! So thank you! (y)
Okay, more specifically, which one would YOU recommend? Just the normal £20 Remote Locking or the £35 Remote Locking + Alarm and all that shindig?
I'm more tempted to buy the £20 because my locks are starting to become knackered and I have to wiggle the key about just to get it out (I know that sounds wrong :D).

Thank you! :)

you could just try some lock lube see if they free up... I couldn't advise on what central locking kits/alarms are good, never fitted one. My GT has remote locking and alarm standard ;)
I could do, but I reckon it's more wear and tear type of situation going on here, because the Passenger lock is practically immaculate :)
Oh shush. :D So basically I'm gonna go for the £20 one ;) And then if I fancy and upgrade just get the £35 one? :)
