Ive got a Fiat Punto Mark 1, 1998, 1.2.

It currently overheating and runs rich. A mechanic said that it would be the temp sensor, which i bought today. But i have no idea where to locate it and how to fit it.

Any one know where i can find it?

When having it MOT'd the car was high in emissions. The mechanic said it was running rich.

Also every time i drive it, the red light on the dash indicates that the car is over heating. I don't think the fan is kicking in either.

On a Mk1, the fan isn't controlled by the temperature sender in the inlet manifold, but by a thermoswitch in the radiator.

See this for troubleshooting the fan. Usually it's not the switch, but the earth.

Very important to sort the overheating out before you blow the head gasket (if it has not gone already). The other (inlet manifold) themp sender can be a factor in overfuelling.

Cheers i will have a look.

Ive done 87,000 miles and don't think its been done so lucky at the moment. I am sure the fan works. The mechanic said it was like it was run on automatic choke all the time. As if the computer was think the car was cold all the time.
