Hiya Basically i have a 99 mk1 punto and because of the stupid snow i smashed into a kerb and bent my tie rod/axial rod :bang:

I do have the new part!

Can someone please tell me how i get it off?, i have took the track rod end off.

help would be much appreciated as i need the car back on the road asap

Thanks nath

I'm sure it just unscrews from the steering rack? Ive read through the manual and it only says about track rod ends ..

you may need a new steering rack; it cannot just unscrew because it must freely turn to adjust the toe-in; suggest peel back the rubber boot and see how it is fixed; what does the relevant end of the new part look like?

cant remember if the mk1 arms do not come off but im pretty confident they did as i must have done some in my time when a front wheel had a clout
i jack the car up
remove track rod end completely
remove gaitor
then mig weld an old wheelstud onto the part that unscrews then undo it with a few extensions
very easy very straight forward
i like to put a drop of loctite on the threads on replacement but the mk1 might be peened too

or you could buy one of these
