Just about ready now to refill cooling system of my 1996 Punto 55SX. Have rebuilt head, decoked pistons, flushed cooling system, changed thermostat etc.
I was about to purchase a 5L container of the Red variety from Halfords, when I noticed a warning sticker on the carton stating it was for use in post 1998 engines only.

This is news to me :(.

I thought the Red Antifreze was recommended for all Puntos.

Any one know different?

Website says this

The Halfords Ready Mixed Anti Freeze & Coolant is a clear red liquid, which is suitable for many vehicles manufactured after 1998 which require a Silicate Free, Organic acid technology (OAT) including: Audi, Ford, General Motors, Seat, Skoda, VW, MAN, Chrysler, Volvo and Renault.

it says Suitable for MANY vehicles after 1998, Doesn't say it cant be used on cars before 1998?

I would have thought personally it'd be okay to use

Love when it says its a Clear Red Liquid..... if its Red.... Surly its not Clear?

Anyway - I personally cant see a problem with it
Didnt think there was a difference in RED/Blue/Green Except Red is Longer lasting
