Hi please can some one help me solve this puzzle
I have here a punto 1.2 selecta (auto) 1997 single-point injection single cam.
I just bought new discs and pads I fitted one hew disc, then went to fit the pads that I had left in the box to keep clean, when I took the pads out I noticed that they were totally different to the ones I just took out, mine are square the new ones are almost oval mine had a spring thing on top but new were just metal no spring obviously wrong pads. I thought I had better check the discs were the right ones lucky I did because the new discs were smaller than mine new were 240.0mm mine 257.0mm.
I checked the Haynes manual and it says I should have the small ones, but the large ones were on there. Haynes says petrol-single point injection and non-turbo diesels have 240.0mm and petrol multi-point injection and turbo diesels have 257.0mm. Have Haynes got it wrong and the selecta should have bigger discs or have my brakes been upgraded. I am confused because if Haynes has got it wrong then the parts book in the shop is also wrong.

Also I have the callipers with the bolt not the pin.
Also I don't think ive got ABS how do I tell?

Thanks for the reply. no light on dash for brakes except the one that comes on with the hand brake. So don't look like its got ABS.
I don't know why I have the bigger disks! but I took them back with the pads and swopped them for the same as I removed, they seem ok need bedding in but have no noise or smells.

Bigger disks are a compensation for lack of engine braking in an auto - in the auto Panda you even get a servo, as well as bigger diameter disks[:0]
