Usually overheating does for the head gasket, then the head gasket blow allows combustion gases -- and often oil -- into the coolant. At that point the cooling system becomes pressurised and something pops. If you're lucky it's the pressure cap, but on Centos it's not unknown for coolant tank to go pop.

Of course, loosing all that water will lead to further overheating.

before i changed radiator i removed radiator cap while car was warmed up and there was only a slight release of pressure, nothing gushed out, gauge now sits at the middle-fan works- will see if it leaks again

was tempted to buy stop leak stuff for few squid but after reading that it is only a temporary fix and that it clogs all the passageways i rather changed the whole radiator

new radiator doesnt leak, but temp gauge isnt in the middle when driving but slightly below it, on old rad, before it started to leak it was exactly in the middle while driving and then dropped when it started to leak, thermostat got bad cuz of leaking rad?

while car is idle gauge sits in midle and fan comes on when it gets above

while changing rad i broke this pipe, anyone know what it does

No.

Warm up the engine. Disconnect the TDC (aka Crank) sensor at the plug/socket. Remove all plugs, instert tester, crank for 5 seconds throttle fully open. Record. Repeat for next cylinder.

Then, do the same again, but put 5ml (a teaspoon, no more) of engine oil down each cylinder immediately before you do it.

new rad just arrived, but i am a little bit reluctant to put it in as previous two- both were 19 years old started to leak upon thermostat change, u said pressure test, but will that even be accurate since it leaks and therefore already on lower pressure
