Technical Intermittent Starting Problem

go to scrappie and get 1 out of another punto doesnt have to be 16v it can be the 8v engine they are the same as i have changed this in my car which 85 16v

did your car suffer the same symptoms as mine?
what is this relay called do you know?

Sounds like ignition switch, had a few of these, also i am assuming earth lead to g/box is ok, to confirm put jump lead from battery negative to engine when trying to start, if it then turns over earth lead is at fault, if not i suspect ignition switch.

total novice here
i know where the neg terminal is on the battery but where do I connect the other end to?

mechanics have checked all earths, connections, cleaned um all , battery is fine, starter motor given the OK, new HT leads

it literally doesnt even make a hum now when i try to start it

all lights, air vents, elec windows etc all working

that white relay is for the fuel pump

that white relay is for the fuel pump

sound might look into that
when i turn the key, fuel pump light comes on for a few seconds and you hear a slight hum. then light goes off and then i usually start her. all is the same now, except no starty. i will take off that black cover and see what is what under there. since mine is intermittent maybe there is something loose there

cheers for your two cents

these relays give some bother on the mk1 puntos at least parts are cheap to get for these cars .

let us know if that fix's your car

any UK/London members got any suggestions where I could pick up one of these relays?

when i give up and go to close the bonnet, i do here this slight buzzing coming from under that black cover, only lasts a few seconds. dont think i had mentioned that as of yet

it is very easy to fit as long as you know how the connector comes off you slide a piece out from the side and the connection will come off then then just open the nut on the bulk head .

cheers boi
if only i was home in cork, my uncle is a mechanic in Togher!! probably wouldnt of bought a punto in the first place!

could be worse you could of bought these lovely jap scraps lol where abouts are u living ?? as im in blackpool .

in london now but originally from Blackrock

so for this, i need to open the black cover (how to get to those bolts??), simply take out old relay, put in the new one and that should be it?
