had my punto in for its mot and it failed on emissions, i looked through the paperwork and turns out they tested it for the 1.6 sporting rather than the 1.2 sporting, would this make a difference??

Yes they may have allowed it too much emmissions so your 1.2 could be worse than you think... Demand a re-test for free anyway on the strength of that... meanwhile make sure the air filter is clean, it has clean oil in it & take it for a good thrash before the re-test... oh & add some injector cleaner beforehand...

If its still dirty the catalyst is likely cause.

ok, so Air filter clean. have new oil, and new filter is onnits way with some engine flush so going to change that this weekend ready for its retest on tuesday, fingers crossed it all goes well!!

Spark plugs help aswell
