Hello thanks for dropping by
im new to the forum and new to fiat so excuse me for jumping in at the deep end. I recently purchased a Punto gt turbo on a S plate cheap as it was running like a dog and back firing thru the air filter thinking it was just an ignition timing issue, to cut a long story short after adjusting the cam timing, removing the cam and putting all the shims back in the right order, removing the head, replacing a cracked valve guide, re-seating a leaky inlet valve properly and tightening all the loose bolts on the turbo i have one last major issue, the cam timing, theres a mark on the aux belt pulley that lines up with a mark on the crank position sensor, it does not mention this mark in the work shop manual but wen lined up its tdc, the mark on the cambelt pulley it does mention wen lined up were it says, isnt tdc? piston #1 is down! also the camshaft pulley, when i line up the timing mark on that pulley with the little notch on the timing belt casing as instructed in the manual the cam isnt at tdc either? on cylinder #1 the valves are both slightly open? i can time it up the old way no problem but none of the marks lining up as they should not even the marks on the timing belt itself are worrying just wondering if anyone has any ideas or come across this before, i forgot to mention its the 8v engine not the fire but the one with the sloping rocker cover, any help would be greatly appreciated as this is doing my head in, thankyou in advance.
