i've came across 2 different claimed torque figures for the punto gt turbo.

one is claiming 150 lbs ft and the other is roughly 115 lbs ft

both are saying the bhp figures are 136bhp which is correct so i'm guessing one is a typo but which one.....i'm guessing the higher one is incorrect but does anyone know for sure.the site that stated 150 lbs ft actually had the measurement in nm's.

HGT from http://www.carsplusplus.com/specs1999/fiat_punto_hgt.php
Max power: 131.80 PS (97 kW or 130 HP) at 6300 Rev. per min.
Max torque: 164.00 Nm (16.7 kgf-m or 121.0 ft.lbs) at 4300 Rev. per min.

GT from http://www.carsplusplus.com/specs1994/fiat_punto_gt.php
Max power: 137.90 PS (101 kW or 136 HP) at 5750 Rev. per min.
Max torque: 153.00 Nm (15.6 kgf-m or 112.9 ft.lbs) at 3000 Rev. per min.

Looks like 115ftlbs is about right for the GT. Its close to the HGT and if torque was any higher the power would also be higher.

Interestingly the weights are also close though the HGT gains a bit with its air con, airbags, Euro NCAP and emissions stuff.

GT 1000 kg (2,204.6 pounds)
HGT 1040 kg (2,292.8 pounds)

Even the 0-60 is within 0.1 seconds

The lower and flatter torque peak of the turbo should be nicer to drive, though I'd guess there's some turbo lag. TBH the HGT on full chat is quite something.

This goes to show some of the incorrect information out there on the net.

The official torque figure for all models is 200nm stated in fiat original workshop manual.

Bhp is 136 for first series and 130 for the final gt3 series due to the gt3 being euro 3 compliant. The gt1 engine is only compliant to usa 1983 standards.

The 1.4 engine has 40nm more than the 1.8 hgt engine.
