I have a mk1 55sx and whenever I start it up from cold it misfires. Worse if it's been left overnight.
It happens if I put my foot down more than half the way down, splutters then 2 seconds later i'll get going again. It does this for about 10 minutes (until it gets warm) It's not a necessity but is slightly annoying now. Any ideas?

I replaced my leads not so long ago as 2 were split  but i'll go check in a bit see if there's any arcing :)

Mines currently doing something similar - thread "My punto doesn't like the cold" - or something like that, quite a recent thread.

Can't find anything wrong with it, but at a guess: coils, HT leads or freezing coolent may be the problem(y)

I flushed my coolant out a few days ago as it was a bit slushy, ht leads replaced a few months ago. Could it be spark plugs?

Yep, could be your spark plugs, no harm in changing them at £1.49 a plug (NGK),
Counts towards part of a service too:D

Miss Fire = Could be a Spark Plug
When were the spark plugs last changed?

And If your Coolant is freezing your going nowhere till the weather warms up - and the water is thawed that is if you haven't killed the engine

You So need a Good Water/anti-freeze mix in atm
as the cold weather - water is freezing so easily

ziggy

Coolant was changed :D lol. Was about a 60/40 mix with water. Although i've noticed, ever since i've had the car, that the temperature never goes above a quarter before the fan kicks in, where i'm guessing it's suppose to go to half way and settle there, is this right?

Not sure when plugs were last changed, not had the car for that long. Probably over a year though since they were changed i'm guessing

Oh and my heaters don't get that hot, i mean they get warm but not hot and they don't blow out very strong :/ i'm guessing it's the heater matrix?

On mine it goes half way. So is possible your thermostat is dead. And yes the fan should not start when the temperature shows quarter, although is possible that the sensor is wrong and not the fan switch in the radiator.

Thermostat is also less than a few months old, don't understand it :/ i'm thinking it could be a faulty sensor but not too sure :(
