Hi Guys/ Girls,

Just recently brought a MK1 Punto 60sx for £200 its had its fair share of problems which I’ve been working on over the last few weeks, almost sorted now but stuck on the following issue.

The heater only blows warm air even when I’ve been driving for ages. The temp gauge does not move other than when I’m stuck in traffic idling! I’ve checked both top and bottom radiator pipe they are hot so it can’t be the thermostat.

I’ve also checked for air leaks but seem fine too. What other things can I check? Could it need a new heater matrix????

Thanx in advanced

First bleed the cooling system and make sure its topped up. 10 to 20mm above the max is ok. Its that's no help its likely either a stuck thermostat or no thermostat.

possibly an air lock or some other blockage somewhere in the system. is the radiator full?

try squeezing the radiator hoses with the rad cap off to expel any trapped air, failing that i would replace the coolant and flush out the radiator and engine with a hose pipe to try and flush any crap out that may be hanging around

got it sorted today there was no thermostat in the car! now it reaches good temps thanx to both the reply much appreciated
