Hi FF,

i've seen someone in classifieds selling a complete 1.2 16v engine for sale, which includes the clutch, gearbox (6 speed), ecu, engine, basically everything for sale!

im wondering, is it worth it or shall i try get the 1.4 16v?

also, if i dont go for the engine im still interested in the 6 speed gearbox and possibly clutch (if its needed)

im kind of after some advice really? should i just get the clutch and gearbox, as i do want a 6 speed, or shall i get the whole lot? btw this engine has done 65k miles and everything in in great condition!

also, how hard is it to change the whole engine, i've never done anything like this, and the experience would be good :)

thanks,
Carl.

At the risk of sounding cryptic, I think you've answered your own questions. As for how hard a job. You've said you haven't done anything like this before, well I would say in your case this would be quite hard.

Obviously others will be along & say what they think, but the decision is yours at the end of the day on what engine etc.....

& if you haven't figured it out yet:idea:....Bigger engine is always better:devil:

about the actual conversion, a few of my mates have done conversions before, so personally i would think its hard, but with a bit of help im sure we could do it :)

but i am trying to think if its actually worth the swap just for the extra 8 valves, or should i just get the gearbox and clutch and then save for the 1.4 16v in time?

thanks,
Carl.

just to let u know if u want a 6 speed gearbox, getting a 1.4 engine might not fit the gearbox because i had to swap the gearbox putting a 1.8 engine in cos its a different size and so is the clutch . the sporting engine is as fast as any standard 1.4 on the road anyway
