For my sins I have just bought a 1998 Punto SX 60 for £500. Not entirely confident about what to look for I picked this up without checking that the doors close flush. I've now noticed, having driven it around, that the drivers side door has a gap at the top when closed. The rest of the door closes fine - it looks like something (?) dented it and bent the top half of the door slightly out of shape. Otherwise the car seems fine. If I'd noticed it, or had known to look for it before, I don't think I would have bought the car.

Anyway, a couple of questions. Now I have it:

1) Will it fail its MOT with this?
2) Is there anything I can do to rectify it? Can it be bent back into shape? If so, who could do that for me?
3) Am I going to have to buy a replacement door?

Thanks,
Saesneg

Or someone could have tried to enter the car
without using a key.

Wind the window down and use a reasonable sizes
block of wood lodged between the middle of the length
of the complete door or the point where the window starts
and the rear door pillar
protecting paint work with a cloth -

Push in the top of the window adjusting until it fits
it needs to be correct to avoid rain seeping past
the door seals. Wind the window back up.
