General What coolent do you use?

I have a 1997 mk1 55 s in need of a coolent change, currently got a green coolent in, no idea what it is... No idea what to replace it with...

which coolent Do you use?

(If every one says the model of car & coolent they use, so anyone who looks for advice on coolent can use the same thread )

Rule of thumb is don't mix colours. If doing a coolant change including draining and flushing, it shouldn't matter what you use (provided that it is a proprietary antifreeze coolant that you mix with water). Strength of mix determined by climate (Scandinavians tend to need something a little stronger than UK!)

I use the red coolant (5 years life I think). But I always fill, drain and bleed it it a few times with clean water to shift as much muck as possible. After that its OK to use red or blue.

Unless you suspect the radiator is elderly its also worth using a flushing chemical.

Paraflu blue. 50 - 50 coolant to water mix red paraflu dosent work well on my Tempra or the Bravos and is generally for Alfa Romeos
