This is what I've done to my 55SX to make it a bit more lively:

K&N induction kit
Denso U-groove spark plugs
De-cat pipe
GTX engine oil (or something similar - basically decent stuff rather than cheapo)
Occasional tankful of Optimax (to clean the fuel system and injector)

My car is now a little quicker than a standard Punto 60; you're never going to get a lot of power from an 8-valve 1.1 but it's nippy enough.

Also fitted EBC brakepads, Punto GT anti-roll bars, and Punto GT alloys with 185/55R14 Avon ZV3 tyres. So what it lacks in straight-line pace it makes up in the corners and under braking :D

You can't chip the ECU on a 55; those cheap mod chips on ebay are a con, they make your car no faster and will break your engine so don't be tempted by all the b***ocks about "extra 20bhp... ". You can get turbo kits for the 1108cc engine but from what I've heard they're more expense and trouble than they're worth. Punto 60 conversion is nice in theory but it's vastly cheaper, easier and more insurance friendly to just replace the car with a Punto 60 or 75.
