Hi everybody on the FF, how are we?

Recently bought a gold mk1 punto 75 elx, which i think means a 1.2 8v engine from my basic research :).

I have been looking at doing some things to it, its pretty old but goes well and as a first car i reckon its alright :).

Some things i had in mind were:

- Replacing the interior and dash bulbs to blue and fitting a lockwood steel dash surround

- Smoking the headlights, indicator lights and tail lights

- Resraying the wing mirrors black, mainly because they just faded lol :p

Thats the small kinda things and in the long run i want to get the whole car resprayed (i like the colour, but all the panels dont really match lol), get some alloys and a new backbox for the exhaust and possibly tint the back windows and boot.

That was all the look kind of stuff i had planned, with maybe a new set of bumpers before i get it resprayed or maybe a spoiler, im not too sure.

I was just wondering whether anyone would be able to either reccomend how to go about doing any of this or whether its worth doing to look good! Also how much it would cost would be good as im only a student! :p.

Im open minded as well so if you have any other ideas of things i could do then go for it!

Cheers everyone :)

Hi. I'm good thanks. your fairly new so welcome :p
Yeh you are right.. it is a 1.2 8v only multi point injection thats why you have 15 more bhp that me!
Is it a 5 door or 3 door? If 3 you could improve the interior by swapping to a sporting/GT interior. I have done so myself.. one of the best modifications to date to be honest, brings the car up to date by a long way imo.
I have also tinted my rear lights but not the front.. why would you want to tint the headlights?! It will just decrease your vision ha.
Spraying the wing mirrors would be easy enough but have you thought about going to halfords to get your colour code mixed up into an aerosol and spray them the same colour as your car? Your colour code can be found on the underside of the tailgate. Easy to find.. should be something like
"colour colour
199/a"

As for alloys.. in my opinion the punto sporting/gt alloys are best suited for the car, look very tidy and are not chavvy...

I'm a student too so I haven't spent that much....
Get some pics up!

cheers
Dan

Haha, thanks very much :). It is a 5 door, would i still be able to get the interior done? I guess id just be interested in getting it looking a bit more 'modern' lol! It hasnt really been treated badly so its in pretty good condition so i guess it was alright :).

Good point about the headlights lol, maybe it is a little bit pointless ;p. And i was thinking about the colour coding but im not sure if id trust myself to match it properly to the right shade of the car. Its annoying as each panel has faded a little so it just looks a little messy, and t-cut doesnt seem to be bringing it up much :/.

To spray the headlights did you remove the whole 'block' thing of lights lol, or just mask it up and go for it? ;). I bought a haynes manual so id be pretty confident taking the thing apart :).

And thanks MikeSalt, i agree, dans punto looks pretty tasty, i might just get mine redone in red ;)
