Ive attached a photo if you dont mind looking and helping this newbie out lol the guy said he had them on a mk2 punto if thats anyhelp.

yyyyaaaayyyy thankyou!! would you say thats a good price im paying or am i being ripped off? this part i have no idea about doh "alloys is 98" all he said as they are off a standard mark2. cant w8 go get them now, he has give me the option to try one on when i go get them witch is fair enough, just thought id ask the experts on here 1st :D

pcd 98 is the distance between the holes where the bolts go.
if hes giving you the option of trying them thats fair enough sounds like a good seller.
they should definately fit though if they have been on a mk2 without wobbly bolts.

aahh rite, a new thing learnt thanks, yea he seems genuine enough, just dont want to get there and bring them back to not fit. lol beacuse thats just my luck. its a 56mile journey aswell lol

If they are 98 then the PCD is perfect for the Mk1 Punto without wobbly bolts.

You just need to check and see what the offset is like. But if they were on a Mk2 previously you should be okay...they wont stick out.

Hi all,

Just to update I went get the wheels to day, everything alignes up properly yay, there was only 1 error, on the hub theres 2 bolt thigys that stick out my guess was to help guide the wheel on. so i had to remove these to get the wheel to fit flush good idea or bad? also Ive only used the 4 bolts/studs that were holding my original wheels on they seem tight will they be ok. sorry sound daft just dont want go on a long journey and have one of the wheels undo and come off. no thanks lol will try get a picture of car up 1day. basic but it does 4 me :)

i dont think those do anything bar help you align the wheels with the holes.
as for the bolts they should be ok as long as there tight enough just make sure on the back wheels you can spin the wheel without fouling the brake drum inards. shouldn't do though

cool :) well i tightend them using hand, then when the car was back on the floor i used my leg strengh to tighten them more. just need get some cheap locking nuts now, otherwise around here it wont be long untill the car is on bricks lol hhmmm and sum clear side indicators for the wings. thanks for all the advice m8 as far as im aware they aint rubbing on anything, next job paint the brakes up lol

Whoah! Don't go tightening the the bolts that tight! The wheel will fall off with the hub threads still attached. The correct torque is ~85Nm for wheel bolts, it is not actually that tight. Too tight, and the threads will be damaged. See if you can beg, borrow or buy a torque wrench to get a feel for how tight it should be.

Doh :( they should be ok 4 now should'nt they, when I used the leg strengh, I only went untill it was tight and no more. My dads got a torque wrench, think i should check it later, but I have been out in the car since and so far they are still on hehe I never try swing on anubolts just a bit hard some times with being heavy handed. thanks for the heads up m8

I was being a melodramatic about the wheels falling off with the threads, but overtightening does weaken them. When you can, slacken them off and retighten with your dad's torque wrench set at 85Nm (The Haynes manual quotes 85 on one page, and 86 on another). Repeated overtightening is what you have to worry about. With the stock tyre iron (in the boot with the jack), arm strength is usually enough to get the right torque, leg strength is probably too tight. Of course, these are very approximate, you could be built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and able to remove bolts with your bare fingers.

I wish :ROFLMAO: I tighened them up untill the felt they were on the verge of not tighening any more, but with the advise given I'll do them again 2day with the torque wrench. Thanks again mike

Just to add, Im so glad I fount this site and the experts hehe, would have been stuck without it.

No worries, this is what this forum is here for. Some of the members here know more abotu Puntos than a professional mechanic would, so you are in good company.

If this forum has saved you a significant amount of money, putting a few quid in the Fiat Forum donation box would be much appreciated, and helps keep this place going. My car would have not been economically viable without this forum (y)

thanks Mike, yea this site is a god send, without it i would have been stuck or would'nt have brought stuff for the car. will have to put a donation in, well worth it!!!!!!! a fiat owner must have:D

just took sum pics of the car if any1 wants a look, its basic but i like it lol after all i carry a baby lol

Same age as mine! Looks very clean, and has the black plastic bumpers like mine; great for pushing shopping trolleys out of the way without giving a hoot about ruining the paint work.

It's a good car for carrying a baby in. Whilst you only get two EuroNCAP stars as the driver, everyone else on board gets four, so it will be perfectly safe for the littl'un. Are you planning everything else for the car, or are you sticking to just the wheels, like I will be for at least another year?

Thankyou :D It's a great little runner, and it pi**es my m8 off beacuse its very good on petrol, I did rhyl and back on just under a tenner. his is a 1.4 corsa and he always seems to be at the petrol station lol Thats very good to know about safety main thing, dont think id go into lowering it etc, the wheels and clear indicators just seem to set it off nice and with the black wax on bumpers and mirrors (I cheated i admit it lol) they were going dull when I got it. I would like do other stuff its just money that stops me at the moment, I know the next thing I'd like get is the clear indicators for the wing repeaters :D oh and maybe paint the hubs black? there just rusty at the moment but only put wheels on yesterday lol
