Styling 15inch alloy wheels on a mk1 punto

The rear drums do look a mess when they are rusted and sitting behind nice, open-spoked wheels like you have. Give them a good rub down and put some Hammerite on them and they will look great. I'm leaving mine until I can get a rear disc conversion sorted.

And the fuel economy is great. On my 55s (1.1 litre), one tank will see me 470 miles before I have to refuel, taking it reasonably steady. I know many dedicated motorway cruisers that cannot do that on one tank.

Thankyou :D It's a great little runner, and it pi**es my m8 off beacuse its very good on petrol, I did rhyl and back on just under a tenner. his is a 1.4 corsa and he always seems to be at the petrol station lol Thats very good to know about safety main thing, dont think id go into lowering it etc, the wheels and clear indicators just seem to set it off nice and with the black wax on bumpers and mirrors (I cheated i admit it lol) they were going dull when I got it. I would like do other stuff its just money that stops me at the moment, I know the next thing I'd like get is the clear indicators for the wing repeaters :D oh and maybe paint the hubs black? there just rusty at the moment but only put wheels on yesterday lol
It looks very nice. Looks perfect and tidy too :D
How about a cheap mod, tinting the rear lights?
They look great and are so easy to do. Would look nice with your alloys me thinks

Yea they do look yummy all rusted up :ROFLMAO: Great minds think alike, was thinking about hammerite today, Ive still got nearly a full can from when we treated rust on the bottom of the door. If we get another good dry day I'll have a go at it. Thats brill about the fuel economy, when we went rhyl roughly 75mile's from us, I just stayed mainly in the left lane at around 50-60mph then only every so often mainly to overtake do 70mph, did'nt fancy stressing the engine out.
Well when ye get the back converted and sorted u'll after take sum pics so I can have a look :D

nice Phreaktwo!!!:slayer: looks like im not the only 1 then lol have been trying for months get hold of a door for mine but no luck at scrappys our colour must be special lol.

rite about the wheels, experts please help lol ok so I went out today and was reaching upto 45mph at that point the car started shaking badly through the steering wheel and car, if i droped the speed back under that it stoped? my guess Ive been sold knackered wheels? I cant return them to the owner because it was done out of ebay. whats my options if this is the case people  I know my drivers side suspension at that good because the oils leaking out, but It was ok on the steels i was doing up2 70mph with no problem.

ppphheewww thank god 4 that lol cheers karbineftw, how much does that cost i know they were on a mark2 before, and lol does anybody know any places around stoke on trent that does it cheapish lol

No you need your wheels balancing. Nothing to do with the wheels being dodgy. They are from a different car to yours so set up differently when balanced :)

I think any MOT garage will do it for you. As long as they have a wheel balancer. I can't tell you how much it cost accuratley
But when I got my old old alloys done. They charged me £40 for tyres put back on and balancing. Around £20 I'm guessing just for balancing all four but don't count me on that. Just a rough estimate based on my previous experience

just to update, I took them to be re-balanced, luckerly I get on with the guy there, He said its because I was missing the spigots and wobbly nuts. So I went this wheels shop and asked for what I needed, WOW £68 f'ing quid lol cud of died lol any banged them on wheels seem more tighter however it has'nt fixed the shaking Im expriencing through the steering wheel and gearbox/body at around 50mph now. Could it be tracking? wheel blancing? Ive ran out of money at the moment but will try get it sorted asap if I can sus what it is. if this helps in anyway my suspention is stiff/hard no mods proberly just age. its hard even over speed bump at around 15mph. girlfriend allways moans so think theres a prob there wiv the suspention that is lol

Tracking won't cause the problem.
Poorly balanced wheels will.
Badly worn tyres will.

cheers richie.guy, Well tyres are like brand new so it cud'nt be that then. Wheels have weights on them but I hav'nt taken them in yet to be checked/re-balanced. Maybe that's worth ago?

Most likely balancing, but could also be rear radius arms, prob not, but don't rule it out...that wobbles like mad at about 50.

Also I read earlier in thread about tinting lights...just give it a little bit of thought before doing it, as they are hard to see the indicators on a bright day as it is. Even worse with a tint on them. I'm not saying don't do it, just that you said you have a baby on board and you might not wanna risk someone slammin up ya backside.

i had the same problem with my alloys on my car, but i had 2 front buckled wheels which was causing mine to wobble

Id go to a garage or tyre place and they usually do a balance for £5 a wheel, if you find you do have a buckled wheel.. swap it for a wheel on the back

Hope this helps :)

Those two spigots you removed hold the discs/drums to the hub when the wheel bolts are removed. They also align the standard wheels. I have removed them from mine and have no problems.
Most likely is that the wheels are out of balance. Normally only the front wheels are balanced and not rear ones. If one of the wheels that you have put on the front was from the rear of the previous car then it might not have been balanced.
Tracking can cause vibration at speed but needs to be a long way out and you would have had problem with the old wheels.

Thank for the adivce everyone, this forum is amazing :D as soon as i get the money together I'll have the front wheels balanced hopfully that will fix it. "fingers crossed" lol I have no idea about with wheel(s) were back and front on previous car so you could well be rite there aswell. another question lol wrong place doh, the fiatforum stickers how long do they usally take come? I ordered mine on the 7th i think.

This is the pic of the so called spigot things, if not what are they called.
