bit of a strange question to all the mk1 55 s owners out there but here goes...

Does your 55 s have a rear washer as mine does not seem to have a visible one? yet i still have the stalks for a rear washer and when pressed it makes a whurring noise yet no water ?

probably just me being thick but it doesn't seem to add up.

The rear washer on these cars is part of the wiper assembly. Look at the point where the motor drives the arm, there should be two jets and on the side a screw driver slot to adjust the angle of the spray. Sounds like with yours that the pump motor is working. Could be either blocked jets (clear with a pin) or broken one-way valve (designed to keep water in the piping). If its the valve that is faulty you will need to lift the bonnet and replace an in-line pipe connector which is situated near the washer tank (left wheel arch) round the back of the battery. The part is cheap and easy to replace.

ahh... there does seem to be a jet on the rear wiper although very corroded , i had a brief look when a mate said but i must have been quite blind to miss it :|

as for why its not working i will go through what you've said.
does seem to be a blockage of some sort as i can still hear the whirring of a motor, different to that of the main washer jets.
