(T) MK1 - clutch or gearbox?

Hello, I have a '98 punto 60s which for a couple of weeks had a squealing clutch and stiff gears and before i could get it checked out it did this.. went to put it into reverse (with difficulty), heard a thud and started vibrating. Couldn't get it back into neutral and lifted my foot off the brake ( not the clutch!) and had to let it lurch backwards to stall it. Managed to get it back into neutral with engine off. So, does anyone know, is this a clutch problem or gearbox.. or both? Maybe it's time for Percy Punto to head for that great scrapyard in the sky.

And to top it off.. my aa membership lapsed and he's sitting all alone in a random street ( any cheap recovery places in Edinburgh )

hi does the clutch have pressure in it and have u checked gearbox oil.

and check if u have any oil leaking from slave cylinder

all these things might mean something to me .. if I wasnt a girl the clutch pretty much goes straight to the floor.. and it was dark so I didnt see if anything leaking... and until about half hour ago.. i knew nothing about gearbox oil :O I shouldnt own a car lol

sounds like your master sylinder dont cost much to fix
