Looking at the engine the other day, there is only one cam pulley.. Has my car been fitted with an 8v engine, or is there a second cam somehow ran from the first one (gear driven maybe?), a bit like on the 1.9 16v JTD?

Or does one cam operate all 4 valves per cylinder? Not sure what to think, I was expecting to see a typical DOHC engine with two cam pullies :confused:

It doesn't feel like an 8v which is why I was slightly puzzled seeing only one cam pulley.

Can the torque curve be pushed higher up the rev range for better top end by adjusting the exhaust cams timing? I know this won't make for a good idle or emissions reading.. Just a thought.
 
No, it is a chip out job, but not a problem.

Thanks for that, I thought it would given the age of the car, same as my '98 156 V6 before it had the Unichip installed.

Don't think I can justify spending more than the cars worth on a GSR pipe and Red Dot remap - although I know from the Alfa forum that Red Dot and GSR Engineering do top quality products.. This Punto for me is a runaround though, so anything I do to make it a little more enjoyable has to come at a real cheap price, mostly using second hand bits. If I had big money to spend on it, I'd be spending it on my Alfa instead..

What I was wondering, is that if anyone already owning a Punto 1.2 16v with a decent remap would allow me to copy it for some beer tokens.. I have KWP remapping equiptment, someone I know used to run a franchise and went bust, I picked up what was left of his equiptment on the cheap, so I can do basic read and write functions. I'm guessing the KWP equiptment will work.. I have a load of remaps on the laptop but he didn't write them himself, he was a mobile guy and I'm not writing anything to the ECU that I haven't seen running on another car first, besides I don't think I have anything for a 16v anyway..

So, anyone fancy helping a skint brother out? :D
