Re: Mk1 punto Spoiler fitting.

Did it not come with instructions? If it was like mine then you'll need to drill a couple of holes in the top of the tailgate and attach it this way with nuts and bolts.

If it has a brake light then just wire this into your existing brake lights at the back and run the wire up through the roof panel and through the rubber grommet which houses the heated rear screen wires.

It's dead easy and shouldn't tkae you long.

Re: Mk1 punto Spoiler fitting.

would be easier and less risky to take the bolts off, and not drill any holes. just paint it up or get it painted. if you get it painted the body shop will fit it for you.

if you paint it then remove the bolts (that way round as you could hang it from the bolts), and stick it on with a good bit of silicone adhesive - best to use tigerseal or like that way there's no risks of water seeping through over time and rusting your car. that what i choose to do anyway, but theres a few different ways for you to decide

Re: Mk1 punto Spoiler fitting.

Thanks, Could i not just stick it on with tiger bond instead of drilling any holes at all? Also how many cans of spray do you think i will need? Its coming already primed.
And the spoiler does not have a light on it just a standard spoiler..
Cheers

Re: Mk1 punto Spoiler fitting.

yer thats what i did just stuck it, it wont move for anything.

i would say get 2 cans of colour, but personally i would check the quality of the primed surface if its not smooth rub down and re-prime so maybe 1 can of primer. then just 1 can of clear lacquer. so your looking at 25-35 (maybe less) on Wet and dry, alcohol wipes/tack clothes (to clean surface of residue from spraying and dirt), and paint. but that's just a rough figure

Re: Mk1 punto Spoiler fitting.

Your call how you choose to put it on although i don't understand the 'risk' with drilling holes (assuming you simply paint any bare metal in the hole created by the drilling).

Personally i would opt for bodyshop painting as you just can't get the quality of finish with cans but again, your call.

Cheers!
