Hi everyone. I have read through a few threads similar but have not determined how to fix my car yet. 1999 FIAT PUNTO 75 SX I replaced the timing belt on it and it would not crank. First I left the crank pully bolts loose so the belt skipped a bunck of teeth. I reassembled it and then it would not crank but sounded fine. Well after reading here I realized I must install the crank pully so it can speak to the sensor and it started fine. I shut it off for the night and the next morning I took it out of the garage and started it so I could make sure the antifreeze or glykol was full.

Prior to the the job I must note the heater was not working either and the waterpump was replaced as well.
I was planning to replace thermostat but it had not yet arrived.

So I cranked it outside and filled it with antifreexe and went in to get a cup coffee and 5 minutes later I came outside and the car had shut off. When I cranke dit it sounded fine other than a noise from the top half of the engine on the timing belt side that was there prior to working on the car. Sounds internal and sporadic, ie not always making noise.

When I came oiutside and the car was off I tried to restart and it would not crank. It turned over fine and sounded right but it simply would not start. I noticed the fule level was very low, in the orange but not quite dead empty. Maybe 1 or 2 liters left I guessed. I went to get fuel and put in 4 liters more but when I tried tom crank it still would not. I need to know where to start and in what order. I did not check spark as I had nobody to look for spark i while I turn over engine. I did not check fuel pressure because I did not know how. I looked in and the timing belt is not broken. The senser seems to be plugged in for the crank but I did not unplug it. Please help.

Cliffs:
-heat on car not working and timing belt need replace
-replaced timing belt and water pump
-left crank loose belt jumped and reinstalled with crank pully start fine
-car sat overnight next morning took outside filled with glykol and ran 5 minutes came out and car stopped running.
-gas was low so added 4 liters and car now turns over sounds fine but will not crank.
-where to go from here. not a pro mechanic so any extra details or pics or links always appreciated.

Sorry for long post and thanks for reading..

Ok so I checked the spark and there is none. I went to hookup to the obd 2 or rather the obd to 3 pin connector located under the hood on the timing belt side but my fuse on the power connector for the obd 3 pin was blown. So no engine code check done yet. Also without spark it doesnt matter but I did spray starter spray into the throttle body for 2-3 seconds on 3 seperate occasions and no difference still no start.

So with no spark what to do next, taking into account the facts in the first post that it did crank and run for 5 minutes before stopping and now no spark no start?

First check that the code light comes on then goes off with ignition.
All ok there then it could be :- fuses to ignition circuit under bulkhead shroud.
No pulses from crank sensor.

Ok checked the code light and it is ok. Checked fuses in all 3 spots. All fuses are good and ignition fuse the big one in the engine compartment is good. When I turn on the ignition switch I can hear a relay in the glove compartment click so I guess its the ignition relay and it sounds like its working. I have checked the spark on 2 and 4 I think and no spark. I will have to check 1 and 3 when help arrives this morning. There are 2 coil packs one for 1 and 3 cylinder and the other for 2 and 4 cylinder on my car.
I did not check any interia switch because I could not find one.
But like I said I di´d timing belt and it wouldnt start till I connected the crank pully so the sensor could read it then it ran for 5 minutes and cut off. It was parked the whole time.
I am stumped so bad I dont know what to do. Honestly if I had the cash I would take it to the shop but with wife so sick and baby on the way I am forced to try to get it going myself.
Any other ideas sir?

Hold on I just realized you wrote no pulses from crank sensor. I did n ot check this. I am also not a professional mechanic so I am unaware how to check this. I do have a basic set of tools and a multi meter and a laptop with basic diagnostic software. I have found no codes on the vehicle though. Is it difficult to check the crank sensor for a non professional?
