Technical Punto 55 sx change engine to faster engine

Hi,

i've got a Punto 55 SX year 1995 and it is way to slow. i don't want to buy a new car. i just want to make it faster. a lot faster. the top is 150 km/u en acceleration is bad.

so i want to put in a other engine. but wich engine will fit. (what 16v engine?) and what whil i have to change more if i change engine? other gearbox in order for the engine to work? etc..

i know i can stick to this engine and than get an induction kit and a ecu remap and maybe change exhaust etcetera. but i'm talking about lots of more power.

please keep in mind that i'm not a milionair but just a student wanting a faster car.

how much faster do u want?
how much do u want your insurance to go up?
what are your mech skills like?

If you make it go faster you also need better brakes to stop it & better suspension to keep it on the road. All in all probably cheaper to sell it & buy a higher performance Punto!

to get lots more power you need either Brains, or Money, or Both.

its not worth tuning the 55 engine for all the performance increase its gonna give you.

you could fit a 16v sporting engine (85bhp) or a GT turbo engine (130bhp) but this would mean changing many things (and uprating the brakes to cope with a GT engine)

then you would get raped on insurance....

Just forget about it, make do with what you have or get a faster car.
