Not sure if this is really a technical problem but where on a Mk I Punto 75SX should the engine number be? The handbook says "Stamped on the left of the engine block" but I'm buggered if I can find it anywhere.
I suspect that there may have been a pressed alloy tab which has been detached/broken off but is there a proper stamped in number somwhere?

My 55 (cinq) and current 60 engines had the number dot stamped on the top of the water pump - follow the water rail going across the front of the engine to the cam belt cover, it's on the flat horizontal surface there. You'll probably have to clean it right up to see the number - try fine emery.
