I've got a 1996, 1.2 litre 8 valve MPI Punto 75, which needs a new ECU.
There's a 1aw 8f .5t on the ECU's label.

I've found an ECU on Ebay, which is apparently for a 1997 1.2 8v mpi. The label has 1aw 16f .e3 on it.

Will this work?

Hurrah! I've found an ECU and lock set, with key that is right for my car.

However, is the asking price of £100 (minus p&p) too much?

i paid £154 for ecu but that was for a mk2

Cars are money-pits mate. I spent 150 odd quid last month on tires, clutch and brake pads for my '96 55sx which cost me £650, but the difference it made was worth it. I'd take the plunge. In the grand scheme of things, 250 quid for a running car isnt that bad (If I read correctly), so go for it.

In the scheme of things, a running car for under £350 (fitted a new clutch slave cylinder, water pump and timing belt, with parts at trade price)isn't that much, but it's the mental thing of "thats almost what i paid for the car" that's stopped me snapping the ECU right up.

I've got hold of an ECU, key, locks etc for just under £80 from ebay.
Hopefully, the car will be running next week!
