General Where to go for a new Punto Hood?

Hi Laura,

There is a section in the owner's manual on how to reset the alarm (if I remember correctly). Try that, it may help. Note that if an alarm is fitted, you should have a red led light fixed next to the fog light switches at the centre of the console. Secondly, there should also be a switch fitted in the bonnet that looks like one of these courtesy switches for the door. The alarm unit should be next to the battery, where you can set / reset with your ignition key.

Good luck.

On my pink cab that I need to sort out, it keeps cutting out after a while when it gets warm. I presume this is the crank sensor that needs replacing. I dont know whether it would be worth fixing it. what do you guys think? My local garage who specialises in fiats has offered me £100 for the whole car. He wants the ecu and gearbox out of it. The ecu in it has been decoded i believe as the keys have no transponders in them - they are just metal type that you get in timpson etc. Am i right in thinking that an ECU that has been decoded and a gearbox is more than what i am being offered? Personally I wouldnt mind if someone offered me some more money and took the whole thing away lol. It has been lowered and has a loud back box - so if anyone is interested sent a message my way lol.

Hi Lytescary,

It's cheeky me again! My suggestion is if the ECU and gearbox are the only things that he wanted, perhaps you should keep the alternator and radiator (remember my local dealer told me that these are the things that goes usually), plus the front brake discs, 4 lights, the motor for the ventilation, internal hood lining and the electric window switches. Giving everything away for 100 pounds is crazy, I'd rather scrap it.

Anybody bough a new one recently? I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get one, What's the opinion on the different fabrics, mohair or vinyl?

I looked into it as I want to replace mine at some point but its not really worth it for me at the moment. car-hood.co.uk sell them for a reasonable price and I contacted a local cabrio specialist who quoted me £250 to fit.
I've read that vinyl/PVC etc are the most hard wearing and likely to last the longest without issue. Mohair looks the nicest but requires a lot of upkeep and will deteriorate a lot quicker.
