New to this forum but has been looking at buying a 97 (MK1??) with duff starter motor and possibly a faulty ECU.
Now i have used the search function and came across a thread on ECU faults but no one mentioned any Mk1 Puntos so im not sure and would like some advice.
The guy describes the problem as sometimes the car will rev to 2000/2500 rpm (I was thinking ICV) and occasionally drop onto 2 Cylinders for 20/30 secs (Coil?/Plugs?/Leads?)
Are ECU faults common on MK1 Puntos.
Any suggestions or am i looking at a self coding ECU?
Also, if i went to the scrappers and got an used ECU, Ignition barrel and Key would that get me around the self coding ECU bar having to use seperate key for opening the doors and fuel cap?
