Dear All,

I have a p reg punto 60s and I went away for two weeks and when I got back, the battery was flat, battery was fault. (I am an auto electrician)
Since then, the car is hard to start no matter if hot or cold.
The engine spins over but doesnt even attempt to start for the first to or three attempts then starts smoothly and runs perfect.

Any ideas?

Yes checked it, no lights on, think may have founded it though.
There is a relay on the bulkhead under a black plastic cover that is prat of the injection system upon starting.
Fiat tell me they do suffer from water getting in and can cause bad starting.
Will keep you informed if it is.

no water ingress but ive changed that relay for the simptoms you have described before on fire engines, it might be worth trying im fairly sure they are quite cheep.

I changed the relay on the bulkhead, connector etc but its still not perect at starting.
Car used to start first time everytime but now say out of every 5 starts, it cranks over 4 or 5 times before it starts perfectly, any idears? Engine ECU faulty?

if it starts and runs then there can be much wrong with it, if it were my car i would disconect the ecu for a few hours, if that dont fix it then id probly live with it.

Car has just started to over heat now too, connected?
Any idears were I can get an engine wiring diagram from?

Anyone know were I can get a wiring diagrham for the engine mangement from?

Cylinder head gasket was faulty, started loosing coolant, just done it and guess what, problem still there but have noticed that sometimes the keycode light doesnt come on then off and thats when it wont start, no matter which key I use and the battery still goes flat now and again.
