The fact is, there is always something else that's better in some way.

I reckon, stick with the 1.2, it should be really economical (and that's an issue these days) and then you can buy some much more powerful car as well. I love my 164 and it goes like a rocket compared with my Punto Sporting. 0-60? About 12 seconds for the sporting - and 7.5 for the Alfa. MPG around town? About 40 for the Punto and 20 for the Alfa...

If you do want an engine swap, I reckon the 1.4 Turbo is a great idea. I guess that's because I like the engine in my Uno Turbo - economical for the performance it gives.
