Hey everyone, I’m new on the forum please be kind.

I’m having a few problems with my mk1 punto and I was hoping that some of you could help me out.

So here goes:

1) The handbrake doesn’t work at all on a slight incline, it works fine on a flat road so I’m guessing the cable just needs tightened? Is there an online guide to do this or do I need to buy a Haynes manual?

2) The heater only blows out cold air and I’m guessing that’s because there’s a pipe missing. It's a silver foil type pipe and it looks like the pipe goes between the radiator and the air filter before entering the car so this must be the reason why my heater isn’t working because I don’t have that pipe?

3) There’s seems to be a small leak in my radiator somewhere as I have to refill the water/antifreeze every month or so. However, the leak seems to have stopped as I don’t have to refill the radiator anymore.:) Should I just leave it as it seems to have fixed itself? I was going to put radweld in it when it was leaking but then heard some horror stories about it. What should I do?

4) And Finally… some scum broke into my car and now the drivers door lock is damaged. I can usually open it from the driver’s side but it never locks (not really a problem since I can use the passenger door lock for this). They also damaged the ignition but I managed to fix that. Strange thing is they never took anything (including the DVDs in the boot, very lucky). So what’s the best way to get this fixed? (I’ve read one of the guides about replacing the door lock using another lock from a scrap punto which seems easy enough)

I know that’s quite a long list but any help would be much appreciated. I can’t take photos of anything right now as I’m at university and my car is back home so hopefully I’ve explained everything in enough detail. If I’ve left anything out please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Ok first look @ the brake shoes as self adjuster lets go

Most probably air in cooling system (nothing to do with that pipe)

Head gasket because also fits above fault ie air in cooling system

Get a lock set (& better music as not worth stealing):D

Your car is in a bad way & could easily cost more than it,s worth to repair if you use a garage. also don't keep driving with head gasket gone
Thanks in advance,

Mark

Thanks for the reply.

I probably should've mentioned the head gasket was fixed last summer for the MOT and it's only done about 500 miles since then so maybe the head gasket isn't the problem? I'll follow the guide for bleeding the cooling system and go from there.

Thanks for your help:)
