My daughter has a 1995 punto sx, there is no manual, which is not surprising, I'd like to know what the warning lights mean? One has come on that looks a bit like a shower head, it's on the right side of the dash near the top.

Injector light.

Is the car driving normally? It would be coughing and spluttering its way around if the injector was playing up. Is the light constant while the engine is running?

Thanks. the light isn't constant but the car is a bit lumpy at times, I put this down to it having 90k on it. The car was difficult to start this evening but after starting ran OK, after about 8 miles or so and after idling for a few minutes the light came on. I then took the car for a short run and it was still on but the car ran OK, after stopping and restarting it went out after another mile or so.

Is this common, should I be looking at adding something like redex to the petrol to clean the injectors?

No.. the injector light essentially says the ECU has detected something abnormal in the system... clogged injectors would just run ineffiently (and therefore maybe lumpy) but the ECU wouldn't be able to tell that.

It's more likely to be a loose wire, HT lead, or something like that. The TDC sensor is quite common to fail like this but I don't know if that makes the injector light come on.

If the injector light appears there should be an error code stored in the ECU memory. Someone who can read that could tell you what it is.. and that may point you in the right direction.
