i have a 1994 fiat punto 75 elx. i have recently lost my keys. Any advice on what to do?

Thanks

my kids have been playing with my ducato keys and lost them. First thing I did is I called the dealer as I needed the car for the next day. They said they need to contact the manufacturers, apply for pin numbers, etc everything was going to cost £300. The price was too high (I only paid 1k for the car), so i started researching different car key specialist companies. The best deal I got was £108 from http://autokeysquad.co.uk/lost-car-keys.php and they came and sorted me out the same day, at the time I chose. Great service, would definitely recommend

however, this company seems to only serve London within the M25- my brother tried to book an appointment in oxfordshire and they refused

I know theres a lot ambiguity about this topic with regards to key numbers, buiysing blank keys then getting them coded etc... I went into a local reputable locksmith yesterday with a similar problem. I told them my car is 11 years old god knows the paper work is such as key numbers and radio codes... they told me they dont need then and all in prices start at 35 quid! So shop around you dont need Fiat...

Though saying they could have been telling me porkies! :D

mk1 is easy to copy keys

Mk2 or the Key Code 2 system is a little different

Some places can do it - some dont

fiat and Some Auto-sparkies will want the key Code card as well, as they wipe all the keys and program them all back in that you want

So make sure you give them all your keys if you go to a local auto electrician

The only time the key code is any good if the auto locksmith is buying the pre-programmed key from fiat then they can use the key code.

Saying 'prices start from' is normally a sign that they charge that amount for the programming then they add the cost of the key and if they are ordering a key from fiat then its still going to be quite a bit on top.

IMO if you have already got 1 key you shouldn't be paying more than £100 for a second key. If you've lost all keys expect to pay around £150 tops

If you don't get a spare key get key insurance. For £15 a year you can have up to £150 of new keys and associated costs.
