I have a 1998(S) 60SX, and have strange problem with the electric windows

The drivers window works great.

The passenger window however - I can wind it down using either button (drivers door or passengers) - but NOT up again.

If I get out and in the car again many times, and lock/unlock the car - eventually the buttons do wind it up again.

Any ideas where to start ??????

I have sort of the same problem only my passenger window does go up...just veeeeeerrryyyy slowly!

I've just put it down to a motor problem.

Drive it like you stole it!

the reason for them being slow goin back up is maybe because there is more strain on the motor to push them back up, on my dads people carrier the windows where always slow at going back up and used to burn out motors and snap cables very easily

I've the same problem, is this easy to fix? I've looked in the haynes manual but it doesn't have anything on replacing the window motor.

when the window goes up slowly that is usually a broken window regulator or there is dirt blocking the regulator, the regulator slows the window down and also stops it when it reaches the top, on the original question i would also say it is a broken wire or loose connection it also maybe the regulator getting stuck and the opening and closing of the door may knock it loose enough to work.

also slow going up can mean mean sumthing wrong with the rubbers the window lsides in. on my cavalier i had part of the rubber had splt on the window frame and got caught against the glass when you put the window up as a result it would go slow. i couldnt be bothered to get it fixed soooo once a week sprayed a lil wd40 into it lol

Most likley lack of use, there is a white clip on the glass which sits in the rubber if you pull the rubber out a grease the inside where the white clip travels this should do the trick

The Fish Dude got it spot on, its very usually the felt type rubber strips dragging on the window. If you spray WD40 down the front bit of the windows right near the wing mirrors, thats where they catch, Its to do with the curve in the door, making the felt type rubber strip slippery helps but needs re-oiling about every two weeks.
