Hi people, looking for some more help,

Today while driving home my oil light suddenly started to flash on and off (obviously with acceleration/braking/bumps in road etc.) so I thought, oh well, must be due a top up. But when I got back and went back outside to unload the car I discovered drops of oil running the full length of the car on the drivers side.

I know its not the rocker cover as I've changed that before and theres no oil at that level on the engine, the whole drivers underside of the car is coated in oil, as is the back side of the front wheel arch, the front and underside of the sump, and around/on/under the oil filter.

Just wondering what the most likely candidates are and if there are any helpful indications as to what could be up, I've put some gunk on it to clean it up and see if I can see where its leaking later when I check but any help would be great.

Thanks,

Kev

Hopefully it'll be a holy sump, and if it is it should be a cheapish and easy fix. Very likely on a Mk1, as they are pretty old now. Jack it up and see whats goin on down there.

Happened to me a while ago, went through 1 1/2 litres of oil in a day

Thanks for the reply, kind of hoping its just the filter loosened itself off ;)

But will have a look when I start it up shortly (should've cleaned up sufficiently to see by now)
