Question Front slam panel advice

Hi,
I figure that this piece is called a 'slam panel' but just wanted to confirm. It holds up the front bumper exterior panel and the small plastics bits were broken off (see the yellow arrows). Can anyone confirm that this is the piece?

Can this part be taken from any other Punto's? This is a 2014 Fiat Punto Jet Black 2. I'm located in Oxfordshire.

Any ideas how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
Conrad

Hi Conrad

Traditionally.. SlamPanel.. is where your bonnet catch is situated

You want to replace..or repair the plastic section you have highlighted?

Re: Front slam panel advice

Hi Charlie,
if I can find a second hand at a good price, then replace would be fine. But whatever is cheaper.

Thanks for your help,
Conrad

Hi Charlie, do you think that it can be repaired? If so, what are your suggestions?
Thanks,
Conrad

Hi again

Is this proper accident damage..

Or something else..?

Is something left unsupported..or is it just untidy??

IF you get the part number you might find a used one ok..

Re: Front slam panel advice

Hi,
just thought I should close this thread. In the end, I wasn't able to find a used part to replace the broken pieces on the panel. Instead, I fixed the broken plastic with 'plastic welding' techniques. Basically took a soldering iron and re-attached the pieces.

I'll let you know how it holds. But luckily all the pieces were still found and I was able to reconstruct the broken parts. For now, looks pretty solid.

Have a great day,
Conrad

What has actually caused the damage in the first place, itís quite odd it looks like there is something missing ? Has the car been in any accidents ?
