Question 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

Good morning all

Owner of a reprogrammed stage 1 PUNTO 1.3 75, I recently got 17 OEM rims, know if I will have to change the studs on the 15 original rims or buy new ones

And if among you the owners who made this modification the results will be close to the original rendering or with a 4x4 effect

thank you in advance

the beautiful

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

Shouldn't be any problem with fitment, as you say they are OEM and the PCD wouldn't change.

I'd take a measurement of the outer diameter of new wheel+tyre and the original - If there's a difference it may affect your speedo.
If they are the same diameter, the car will not change it's 'stance' from the original.. you'd need lowering springs to properly make it look more 'sporty'.

Happy to be proved wrong as ever

Stud.. or Bolt in UK English..

Is unlikely to change

Check for yourself:

Measure thickness of the alloy wheel at the point of the 4x100 mount holes

Probably within 1mm

The FIAT bolts do not change much over time

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

If you had alloys before chances are you won't need to change the bolts as mentioned check the thickness of the new wheels where the bolts are compared to the old ones

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

To start a big thank you for your advice

what puzzles me is that the height varies a lot between models of the same line

a little comparison

Should I change the front springs with a shorter OEM reference since on mine I find it raised just from the front

thank you !

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

It doesn’t matter if you have 15 or 17 inch wheels,as long as your total wheel diameter is the same it won’t raise or lower your ride hight!

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

First of all I would like to thank you for all your comments, and I share with you the final rendering of the modification

Do you think a lowering is required or is it fair?

Handling has improved greatly, but the feeling of the weight of the 17s is undoubtedly

What convinced me to review a more thorough reprog :diable:

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

They’re the same wheels I have in my Evo. I would leave the suspension alone, combined with the harder suspension on my sporting the ride can be quite harsh sometimes, also my sporting was designed for it, fitting lowering springs to your car may completely ruin the ride

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

Nice!

It is strange how different your side profile is to mine, with the same alloys fitted. I've got the 'Sporting' model and the front gap between wheel and arch is similar to your rear gap, while my rear is about double yours.

Re: 17 inch Punto 1.3 rims

Thanks for the compliment

For the lowering I have in mind to apply quality springs like EIBACH for a total of -30mm front and rear for more visual homogeneity

@ h0sep1pe Yes very strange on the Punto, yours will surely be a 2-door, I think this is mainly due to the kind of bodywork 2 or (5 doors heavier spare wheel 15 ''…) for the rear suspension and the weight of the engine (mine is a 1.3) for the front

Your opinion on this article :

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Eibach-Tiefe...QAAOSwCtFeLDGm

otherwise if you find that it is balanced I leave it as its ouce:
