Hi all
Recently decided to clean the dashboard and ended up also cleaning the (lcd?) screen of the computer. The screen still works but is fuller and distorted, flickers a bit. Cleaning solution must have damaged the screen. Asked if the screen could be replaced was told €1500 for new unit(which still works fine). Does anyone have any experience of this, is there a way to replace the screen? And yes I’m a dope wasn’t thinking. Ta.

This is a very new unit, and only made by one company which as I recall is not a major manufacturer.

As a result your only option could well be a total replacement of the unit.

You could seek out a company that might repair it, but I wouldn’t keep your hopes up.

Thanks for the reply. Is there nothing else I can do?

Do you have anything like Halfords in Austria? They're certinaly not considered the best in this country, but they have the advantage of having the ability to do the install for you if you're not confident doing it yourself. An independent car audio specialist would be better of course ;)

I’m not sure I’m English and not Austrian so I’d have to have a look around for a Halfords type shop. To be honest I’m not that pleased with the build quietly of this thing but there you go.

Thanks Andy that looks good but would it be compatible? It’s a different design.

And can you install these units yourself? I have zero at knowledge but can use a screwdriver lol

Have seen lots on eBay for other fiat models but not the dachi model I need can anyone point me in the right direction?

There’s lots of different aftermarket ones that are powered by android. These are ~£200. You can use one of these in your Punto in place of the original Dachi one. If you want a dachi one you’ll be talking a lot lot more than £200, it’s 1500EU as you said. If I were you I’d just scrap the original system since the screen is knackered and buy an android one like the one Andy posted a link to. Have a look round and get the model you want as there are a few different designs.

Maybe look for one of the original units by Daichi online that’s used and taken from a damaged car?

Thanks for the replies can I use any punto unit in my punto( it’s a year old). The Bluetooth ones look better than the original daichi one! Tha Anke for the link for the daichi I put it in my basket to see how much at checkout came to 500 euros eek

You could probably use any punto or evo radio from 2011 onwards not a grande one

You would need the code and keep your fingers crossed that it wouldn’t screw up blue and me
