Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Hi everyone.

On our way to Skegness the other day we had a loss of boost after crossing the river Trent. Then we noticed an extra warning light over and above the usual check running lamps.

We also noticed the stop start button has a yellow lamp which is also different.

So I didn't want to stop because temp ok, no smoke or nasty noise, we are still moving & it may not restart... Holiday over.

As Emma wanted to stop & check we did. No oil in water no water in oil or burning smell.

Car restarted with a beep check engine & stop start not available. Car drove with boost.

It's probably got a sensor reading out of expected perimeter?

So I'm going to see how the drive is on the way home and use the rac if required.

In the meantime which lead will I need to hook the car to a laptop please?

Thanks all.

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Is this the lead set I need to plug my Punto ta into a laptop to run multi ECU scan?

Has anyone any experience with this seller? Thanks.

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Decided to call rac out and they found 2 fault codes.

No oil pressure (switch was disconnected - 1 cable tie to hold the connector to the body as it was not locking on)

Intermittent fault on the boost pressure sensor - or something like that.

Both codes removed & I no longer have check engine / stop start unavailable errors on startup.

Not driven far so it's early days.

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Didn't get far before the engine management light came back but drove on.

Boost did not come back this time after turning off the car & re-starting.

Boost came back by it's self after about 50 miles

If it's the same sensor / Error I'm guessing it could be gummed up by blowby oil from the breather circuit. Wishfull thinking maybe but would rather check it out over fitting a new sensor blind only to have the same problem back not too far down the road.

Nice picture showing the turbo with the thing plugged into the loom that I think is on my punto...

Looks like part number 55221800

From the picture I can't get my head around it's function.

Hi. Late to this...

I did a test connection to my TA Lsst year.. just uded the ELM327... IIRC

THE MES SITE should detail which extra leads for other functions...

But ENGINE codes are simple.or should be.

Strangely.... my cheap MJ has recurring faults only MES reads them ...
my decent scan tool sees NOTHING..

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Thanks for the reply.

Bit odd but the fault has vanished by it's self today.

Only think I can think I did was wiggles the wire going ino the black lump on the turbo when taking a pic of the turbo

If it comes back maybe I need to remove the wire and check for bac connections.

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Just to add the RAC guy used 1 connection and it went through main EUC and power searing & ABS

came up on the dash what was unavailable and he said that happens as they reader is checking the ECUs.

Wouldn't mind the RAC's laptop as it also had pictures of where stuff is... like how to get to the punto diag socket.

Re: Twin air - check engine & extra warning light.

Many faults codes will clear themselves after 3 runs without issues
Try running the revs up quite high e.g staying in a lower gear and not changing up till your going faster then you normally would probably the best way of checking faults regarding turbo pressure
Thanks Louie Bee thanked for this post

Maybe RAC Kit is..'intelligent'..

Has software that mimics the old fashioned

SWITCHED KKL .. OR ELM 327 leads..

Just an idea..

Good to hear your TA seems to be behaving.

Will be a multiplexed type connection like most professional grade diagnostic systems are can automatically switch the pin connections around to connect to different ECUs

Dare I say the twinAir has been OK - no warning lamp has come back on since

Well apart from the usual "check running lights", but that's normal

Good stuff.

Is it running LED bulbs or something?

No warnings from mine..

In other news..

Did see its sister car the other day
(The one that the dealership used as a donor for other cars missing trim.. YES-REALLY..!!)

It only had 1 cornering light
.bit strange.. maybe MOT issue?
