Does anyone know how to get a radio code for a Delphi radio in a 2012 Punto? I've got an issue with a flashing mileage which someone on this forum suggested disconnecting the battery for a while to try and reset it. Only problem is that by doing that I'll need to reset the radio but I don't have a code. All the websites I've been to say the serial number should start with some letters (BP or M) but mine doesn't. Help!! Thanks.

Do you actually need the code, or are you just assuming that you will? As I understand it, as long as it's the original radio, the code is stored in the body computer so even if you disconnect the battery the code will remain stored and the radio will continue to work.

I believe, though, that Delphi radio can't be decoded from the serial number (like the Blaupunkts) and would require you to get the code from a dealer. Davren can confirm.

I'm assuming I will need it?! You usually do if you disconnect the battery don't you? I'm loathe to try and sort the flashing mileage for fear of screwing up the radio.

As Eklipze3k says above, the radio code should be stored in the car's Body Computer, so providing you're not fitting a radio from a different car, the existing radio should not ask for the code when you reconnect the battery.

Flashing mileage usually indicates that one of the ECUs in the car is not working or is not communicating with the BC. Have you added or removed anything to/from the car? or is anything not working that used to work?

Not planning on changing the radio just disconnecting the battery. As far as I can see everything works fine, just the flashing odometer.?

Sorry, what's a BC? I know what an ECU is. Is this an expensive fix? Will disconnecting the battery for a while sort this?

A flashing odometer indicates a issue or conflict with the modules connected to the CAN bus that connects the electronic modules on the car. The modules being detected by the BC are different to what it expects. It's unlikely that disconnecting th battery will cure this. Ideally you need to get a Fiat specific diagnostic system (Examiner or Multiecuscan) run on the car. This will report any faults and allow a "proxi-alignment" that updates the CAN configuration. Were are you located? If near Cambridge I can do it for you.

I couldn't get any further away!! I'm in Glasgow!! Trip to the stealers it is then. Unfortunately the only Fiat garages near me are all Arnold Shark.

Get a quote for diagnostics and a Proxi-alignment first. Might be cheaper to buy MES, an interface and DIY if you have a windows laptop. Might even be cheaper if you have to buy an old Windows XP laptop.

Update.... have noticed the stop start doesn't work?. The car has stalled a few times when I come to a standstill after the engine shudders as if it's about to turn off. Could this be the car thinking the stop start should engage but its not?
