2012 199 1.2 8V

N/S rear side light is very dim.

I took the assembly out and it appears the sidelight is on a pcb.

Is this a diy repair or a replacement light assembly?

I wonder if it's actually possible to split and repair..

BBE-Reman .. seem to a lot of car refurb stuff..

but these are probably at a (£40) "disposable cost"

split and repair..

Quite likely to crack the plastic as far as I can see and then I'd have to source replacement LEDs.

Have tested with my meter and the three pins are the same readings both side, in fact the pins are the same way around on both side so I plugged the n/s in to o/s and still NO GO.

Have source a replacement and NEW lamp unit on ebay for £63.

What's the hell's wrong with 50p light bulbs that take a minute to replace?

where are you located? if your near me im happy to part with my old dim unit for you to try to prise apart but when i looked i thought it was way too fiddly for an average diy er :bang:
Have prised apart other light units in the past to re-seal but these look a bit disposable (made in turkey)

I'm in the North East!

Thanks for the offer but I've managed to get a new unit, 1/2 the price that at the Fiat garage, so that'll do for me, or rather my nephew who owns the car.

The rear lights are actually damn difficult to pull out, the plastic pegs get a hell of a grip in the sockets. Yes, I did remove the two screws before anyone asks!

New lens assembly arrived today but sadly, the wrong part.

The ordinary Punto must differ to the Evo and Grande models?

On the Punto, the rear cap that holds the indicator and brake lights is fastened with two screws and two lug clips. The one I've purchased has four lug clips and no screw holes so won't fit.

Just so folk know if looking to buy a rear light for a Punto.

If you're still stuck, have a read through this thread. Very common issue as you probably know. Post 64 is very useful, also you can read my last instalment with post 95!

I think I managed to get away with just giving mine a good bash every now and then, it was working well enough before I got rid of the car in June!:D

Job done!

Got a new unit.

Word to the wise, when replacing the rear light on the mk3 Punto, if fitted with LED sidelight, get a replacement with the same colour strip between the indicator and stop lenses. The strip is either black or red and they have different fixing for the bulb holder cap.

Just revising this old thread. Daughter's 2012 Punto rear light cluster is dim. Anyone tried a repair? Genuine Fiat part is £110 part. I see there are pattern parts on EBay. Are they any good?
