Hi Everyone,

My wife has a 2012 1.2 Active.

A week ago I noticed a burning smell and saw that it was from a lot of oil leaking from the oil filter gasket which had popped.

I figured that the filter may have just been loose, so I drained the remainder of the oil, replaced the filter and oil and all seemed well.

However, yesterday the same thing happened but now the oil is blowing out from what looks like an o-ring that has popped between the sump and the motor by the timing pulley.

This leads me to believe that the oil pressure is too high.

Is there any kind of pressure control valve on these cars that could be causing this? The original oil was reasonably clean so I don't think any oil channels are blocked.

Thanks!

Just some feedback... I noticed that there was a lot of end play on the crank, so I removed the crankshaft and saw that the one thrust bearing had somehow disintegrated and had completely chewed up the thrust face on the crank.

I had the crankshaft repaired by a specialist and decided to do a complete rebuild of the engine, top to bottom, as well as the clutch.

So yeah, it wasn't a simple problem at all, but the wife is happy to have her car back and it is running like new.
