I recently bought an 06 Punto and although i haven't had any problems with it, various lights keep coming on and then going off after a day or less. So far the seatbelt light (permanently lit), the fuel injection light, the city button light and the engine management light.

Should i be overly concerned about these as i know second hand cars have a tendency for lights to come on when there itsn't a problem or is it possible the wiring/fuses are wrong?

Hi,

Bit of a strange combination of lights to be honest. They could all be linked but I would be surprised. Do they all come on together or have they been on individually?

With the seatbelt light being on, are you also getting an audible warning at the same time? Have you got anything sat on the front passenger seat permanently? There is a sensor in the seat base and if it detects weight without the belt being connected it will put the warning light up on the dash. Failing that, it could be a seatbelt stalk fault I guess.

As for the City steering light, have you accidently pushed the City steering function button on the dash? It says CITY on the dash if you have, however, if it is a steering wheel symbol this may be detecting a problem with the power steering itself.

The other 2 lights may be connected. Has the car been driving ok with any/all of the lights on? It would probably be worth getting your local friendly garage to run a scan of the fault memory to see what faults are stored.

Hi. And welcome to FF.

The Grandes are reasonabky power hungry. So on a car youve just bought...I Would suspect the battery.. however just getting fault codes tead and cleared is a great start.
