Hi guys,

I have a 65reg Punto 1.2 Pop+ 3dr and the on board computer is warning me that my first service (9000 miles) is soon due.

I'm intending to get my local garage to service the car (I will supply them with the oil and filter - sourced from Fiat), however they don't have the relevant diagnostic software to reset the indicator.

Does anyone know if it possible to reset the service indicator without a diagnostic tool?

If not, does anyone know of a diagnostic tool which can reset it?

Thanks in advance,

Jordan

Hi, and welcome, :)
if you are panning to stick with an Italian vehicle,
then MultiECUScan is a good idea

Hi Charlie,

Thank you. I've only had the Punti for a month, but so far I'm enjoying owning it.

Ok, I've had a look on the MultiECUscan website and see that there are different cables for different tasks/vehicles.

Do you or anyone else know which cables in particular are needed to reset my service indicator?

Many thanks.

I can't offer much advice about the service indicator sadly, however I'm not sure if you now have to take your car to a Fiat dealer after year one specifically for this new inspection (forming part of the new 9k/1yr interval) for warranty purposes.

There is a good thread on the Panda 2012 section, obviously the schedules are the same for both cars:
https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-iii/418439-panda-twinair-cross-short-service-intervals.html

I think it is all very confusing to be honest! If you look at the manual (or the pics in that thread), the official 9k service doesn't actually involve any replacement of consumables, it's just a checkover.

You might want to double check with Fiat CS though, would hate for you to think you've done it all correctly and then Fiat refuse a warranty claim in future.

Good evening chaps,

Thank you both for the advice so far. ;)

So my understanding so far, is that if i purchase one of these:
eBay item number:121731866015

and then download the registered version of MultiECUscan then I should be able to reset the warning message.

Is that correct?

I am no expert but I don't think this is correct. I think you need a MODIFIED interface AND the coloured cables. Have a look at item number 161715574443. I bought from this seller and they worked on my 500 anyway (using the yellow cable) - I turned the service counter off permanently.

Brilliant thank you.

So before I order one of these cables. Is anyone able to confirm that this lead will work for my 2015 Punto?

I will also contact the seller to confirm fitment also.

Many thanks,

Jordan

Morning all,

I have a quick query about the service indicator (62 plate 1.4 Easy).

About 3 months ago mine was gradually counting down towards the 300 mile mark until the next service, and the spanner warning light would also come on. Nothing unusual about that.

Having passed 0, the indicator hasn't come on for ages now. Does it just stay off once you have passed the limit until someone physically resets it?

It's just I was expecting the spanner light to stay on permanently until you got the service indicator reset after a service.

The car is going in for its service tomorrow - it looks like the counter was reset for service 1 in 2013 but not service 2 in 2014. It's getting the full works tomorrow after an oil/filter change last year:)

Any thoughts appreciated!
