Hello,

First post and totally new to this.

Own a 63 Punto and since yesterday we can't get the boot to lock. Tried all the usual things (unlocking and locking in different way etc) but still it doesn't want to lock. When driving the car will still automatically lock, it will still lock with the key and will try and unlock with the key but, simply the boots won't lock. The car seems to think it is locked though as nothing comes up to warn us saying it isn't and normally the car won't lock if the boot is open.

We noticed a small black bit that we haven't noticed before (don't know if it has anything to do with it).

I have put on some photos to so if anyone has any ideas that's great. Bear in mind I am clueless when it comes to these things, ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1416137312.023693.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1416137357.675242.jpgdon't do much car work on my own.

Thanks

Hello,

Damper on second pic is absolutely normal.

But your lock looks in bad shape.
It did not release when you push boot logo ? Or open with keyfob ?

I took a pic of mine :

You can simulate the locking mechanism with pushing something in until it locks, but be careful to re-open it before closing the boot or it will destroy the latch ! :

You can check with a door lock too, it's the same mechanism
