Not sure how I missed this one

The mini suv version of the punto evo/grande called the Fiat Avventura

Only available in India but right hand drive and only £8300 for the top of the range diesel model

Seem to remember the standard indian spec looks ready to compete in the safari rally anyway. None of the stick on 4x4 gear but about a 50mm ride height increase.

When I popped into my local dealer on Saturday for some wiper blades for my GP (which they didn't have in stock BTW), one of the sales people told me there is soon to be a facelift GP coming to the UK but he couldn't tell me anymore than that.

T or F ?????????

Hopefully, when Fiat do eventually launch a completely new Punto, it'll blow peoples minds, and give ford, Renault and Peugeot the thorough kicking they deserve.

They did say the Punto was going to become a 5dr 500 variant, but then since the unveiling of the 500X they've said that's the last member of the 500 family, so who knows.

Personally I think they'd be off their heads to drop the Punto name. It's such a strong brand name and prior to the 500 coming along it was Fiats best selling model for years.

The Punto and 500 appeal to different a different customer base - Fiat need to realise that just a name change to 500 will put off buyers who would've bought a Punto. Since the 500 ranges have quite a female or family bias, I'd think particularly male buyers would be hesitant of any Punto replacement with 500 badge.

There seem to be subtle improvements between the original Grande Punto and the current 2012+ model I think but they need to keep up with the competition. There is no reason why the Punto couldn't compete with the likes of the Fiesta with the right design, engine range and effective marketing but we all know that!

Sadly, we live in a country of dumbass ford buyers. Truth be told, it doesn't matter how fantastic the Punto is, people will still overlook it: according to howmanyleft, despite the fact that it was inferior in every single aspect, the mk6 fiesta outsold the Grande Punto, for example.
